I'm looking for a first car for myself. I'm 17 and these were the two choices we found...
2004 Jeep Liberty V6 engine. It has 70,000ish miles on it. It's black with a gray interior. It handles nicely. I enjoy it because it's high up and it's amazing with turning corners. It picks up speed nicely, not too fast not to slow. It's sturdy and feels strong with I turn it. Not flimsy at all. They are asking $8,500 for it.
2007 Saturn Ion with a V4 engine. It has 28,000 miles on it. It's red with a beige interior. I liked it because it handled like a civic and was a smaller size car. It had a strong feel to it, but not like the jeep. They want $10,000 for it.
The cons:
Jeep- It's black and I live in Florida so the heat will be bad with it. My dad doesn't like jeep makes so much, so I need to work on convincing him. The only owner was a teenage girl and I don't know if she was gentle with the jeep or not (It doesn't have any accidents)
Saturn- I feel like this car lacks personality. I feel like it's just 'that car' and there's nothing special about it. An older lady owned it before so I feel like it lacks spunk. The pick up on it isn't great, it's actually a bit sluggish. Even though it's only been driven 28k miles, it's had it's fuel pump and battery changed out already which makes me wonder. We're trying to stay under $10,000 for our price and with out a tag this is already at our limit.
What do you think? Do you think I should stay in my budget and go for the jeep? Or should I splurge a little and go for the Saturn? Keep in mind I still need to pay extra for the insurance and tag and registration.
