I am going to be heading into my 3rd year of college majoring in accounting. I have done a fair amount of research on the accounting field. I know the the big 4 will work you long hours, but looks amazing on a resume. Working at smaller, regional firms will get you better hours.
This is all PUBLIC accounting though.
What I am wondering is what Private Accounting is like. I have found very little information regarding this branch of accounting. Do they make similar wage? have good benefits? How's the work/life balance?
Personally, I am looking for a job that has great work/life balance. I would be willing to settle for a smaller salary/less benefits (within reason) in order to get that magical 40-hour workweek that seems to be a fleeting dream in Public Accounting(according to my research).
