which bike would you choose trek or mongoose?

trek. They are a quality organization. All Trek bikes are sold through bicycle shops, not discount houses. Some are cheapies, some are better, all have good warranties.

Mongoose is a division of Pacific Sports, retailing primarily through discount department stores like Walmart. A lot of their stuff is crap, though at the higher end they are ok.

And, if you ever want to trade yours in or sell it on Ebay, Trek rules. You can hardly give away Mongooses (Mongeese?)
