Which bicycle would be best for touring?

This summer I will be touring about 5500 miles. I am debating on which bike to get. I want speed and efficiency. The two bikes I am debating are the Novara Randonee and the BMC SL01. I will be using a trailer to carry my things so the rack is not much of a concern to me. I will have to clime some high ellevations and Im not sure which would do better.
 
Any decent road bike with moderate gearing(48/36/26) and a 34 tooth cassette gear should get you over the passes just fine. If you want fenders, make sure there are attach points.

As you'll be pulling a trailer, the stock rims riding on kevlar belted tires should be ok.

How the bike fits you and saddle choice is more important than brand.
