Which bass to pick - epiphone or yamaha?

Hey, I'm a beginner bass player and I'm kinda hesitating between two four-strings. One of the choices is the Epiphone Thunderbid IV, the other is Yamaha RBX170. Oh, and I'm buying both second hand. The Thunderbird has a small visual defect - a hole in the back,no big deal.
So, which do you think I should get?

P.S. I forgot to say, I'm interested in classical rock kind of stuff. MAybe some chilli peppers
 
i have the yamaha but there both ok i think for a beginner
if the hole does not bother you then go with the thunderbird
but it`s up to you ??? as i said i have the yamaha - good luck.
i`m into classic and soft rock !!!!!
