Which Australian City has the Best Art Scene?

I don't know if it would even make any difference, but are there any Australian cities that would be better than others for an aspiring artist to kick start their artistic career? In this situation, I'm wondering about someone who would like to make money painting, drawing, and/or playing music. What's the best place to be, if any? Why?
 
sydney would be the best city for any artist and i personally believe a suburb called newtown which is a part of sydney is a great place for artist especially musicians
 
Melbourne is the arts and culture centre of Australia by a long way. That doesn't necessarily mean it would generate a better income though. Actually somewhere like Canberra might be more profitable to start with, where people are wealthier and there may be less competition.
