both of these amps are mono block am pushing two 12" alpine type-R 2 ohm dvc and the rms wattage is 500w, the alpine is 50bucks more, the watts on the amps is listed above in the models Number and both are 2ohm's, do watts even mean anything, is alpine good for its quality or its name in amps, or is kicker just better for it's quality in amps

Oh geez maybe you should call crutchfield and say hey I have no idea what I'm talking about, pick out a system here is my credit card. SO your subs are 2 ohm DVC that means they can be wired to 2 ohm through series of the voice coils then parallel the subs. Well this choice is very obvious since the Alpine puts out 1000 rms at 2 ohms. Yes watts are very important and you cant just plug a sub into lets say a refrigerator or something stupid like that and expect to make noise. Each sub needs 500 you get the Alpine, not only will the power match, so will the brand name. Both amps are just as good as each other seriously the boards are probably made by the same Japanese company. Get the Alpine, get a ported box for those crappy subs and all will be good.

when it comes to buying a good quality sound system, your not suppost to worrie about the money really, im mean unless your on a budget. and if you already have an amp, you need to make sure that the wattage adds up the same and that the amp can handle th ohms. and yes watts mean a crap load, if you put a 500 watt sub to a 120 watt amp you will either fry your sub, or amp, because the amount of wattages on the sub, say the sub is 500 watts, that would mean that that sub would NEED at LEAST 95% of those 500watts to power it, i mean it will power it anyways but it wont sound great and it wont last.
