Colin Firth as Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version). Somehow, the film big screen adaption in which Matthew Macfadyen played him just wasn't right!!!
Shame he didn't get much more work after Starwars, he's a brilliant actor. ......How many people could've convinced us that a sock puppet was a Jedi Master?
John Thaw as Mr Tom! I read it years ago when I was young and always imagined him as Mr Tom so I was delighted when they made the film and he was in it!!
Johnny Depp as JM Barrie, Kate Winslet as Sylvia Llewyn-Bowen, and Freddie Highmore as Peter in Finding Neverland. Little Freddie makes me cry so much!!!!
Helen Mirren - The Queen. She looks scarily like HM and she is HM herself because of her initials, which is a strange coincidence! Maybe its because she is such a good actress and so believeable, but either way she has me fooled!
Now, I don't normally contribute to dead threaRAB....but I simply cannot believe no one has mentioned that national treasure of ours, Stephen Fry, and his portrayal of Oscar Wilde.
Not only does he bare a STRIKING physical similarity to the man, but he's been absolutely obsessed with the man for most of his adult life. Man, he even owns the famous smoking jacket that Wilde was often pictured wearing....and a small few other personal items that belonged to Wilde. I'll wager that when the news came he'd got the part, his life was somehow realised in that very moment. Like it just all came together in one magical instant. He was quite literally born to be Wilde (ahem! Boom boom!
Seriously though, I cannot think of another instance where absolutely NO ONE ELSE could have played a particular role. And boy, did he do the role justice.
