Which actors/actresses have been typecast?

Typecast actors/actresses.

Robert Downey-Junior (typecast as himself)
Scarlett Johansson
Jude Law
Ikea Knightley
Morgan Freeman (as his Shawshank character)

Jason Statham is probably the most typecast actor of modern times. Has he ever played a character that wasn't Jason Statham?

Hmm I kind of disagree, I personally loved Courtney Cox in the Scream films and loved Matthew Perry in Studio 60, though I can't see Matt Le Blanc in a role I will ever want to see him in again...

Have to agree with this.

While Robin Hood looks like Maximus, Crowe's roles in the intervening 10 years have been very varied, with Crowe himself very different in all of them.

Agreed. He's not so much phoning in his performances as getting his mum to send a text.

Also, i'm not sure it's quite type casting but I found for a long time that Nicholas Cage seemed to be the same character in every film he was in. Even though those characters spread from scientist to police agent to arms trader to biking superhero to weatherman!

That might just be me though - and I thought he was great in Kick Ass.

have you seen the late 90's colour remake of Psycho??,
True he didn't have to create/flesh in the character, just replay the orig. shot for shot. Was very different tho to anything else i've seen him in.

I totally agree with you, he's one of my fave actors, and after what was wrote in the OP, I was hoping that someone would have wrote something like this sooner.

Any of the actors that have played James Bond, lets face it Sean Connery is Bond, Roger Moore never tried to be anything but Bond,Every time I see Timothy Dalton I just think whats James Bond doing that for? Pierce Brosnan has been desperately trying to distance himself from Bond(why else would he humiliate himself like that in Mamma Mia!)Poor old Daniel Craig really doesn't know what he's let himself in for!

Amy adams

Great actress but her roles in Doubt, Julie and Julia and Sunshine cleaning couldn;t possibly be any different. Even her small role in a buffy episode was the same. She plays loveable innocent characters that gets mixed up in crazy situations.

There is one actor (I use the word loosely) who has only played one part in all his 50 year career thereby beating Lassie (who didn't live that long)

Bill Roache

Not someone in a movie but it always made me laugh in Frasier when he meets an old flame who plays some kind of tv kiRAB presenter, she is angry about her career and says to Kelsey/Frasier "Have you ANY idea how IRRITTATING it is to play the same person TEN YEARS!", always makes me laugh :D
