Get a firing order and make sure that all the wires are on correctly, then take one sparkplug out and make sure its not soaked with gas. if you smell gas off a plug it will not fire and then you will need to pull each plug out individually and blow the cylinders out with a air line while wearing safety glasses and still closing your eyes. then make sure that the timing marks are aligned properly the cam and the crankshaft and that number 1 piston is at TOP DEAD CeNTER, and that the disitruibtor is pointing at number one on the distrubuter cap.

but did you check for fuel going to the carborator???? maybe the fuel pump has let go, i believe its a mechanical pump on the side of the block???? try taking a line off the carborator and crankingit and see if theirs fuel comming out, keeping in mind that you put a can or something to catch te fuel incase of fire.

then make sure you got direct power going to the coil + and on the negative side reverse you test light or multimeter and see if it pulses when you crank the engne. if no pulse you need to check wiring, going to the distrubuter and may need a pick up coil in the distrubuter, also did you check to see if there was spark going to the spark plugs??

ps if it is flooded remember WOT (wide open throttle) shuts the fuel off till you release the gas pedal!!!! when it starts but you will need to still make sue that its not flooded

on 85 dodge with 318 was running till i did a tune up then it started to pop and miss like crazy. when i cut it off never it started again. of course i had a wire crossed.fixed it still wont start maybe it skiped time replaced timing chain had alot of slack but didnt look to have skiped changed it still wont start cam is not broke rotor turns ignition module looks new still has gel in back and making good ground what have i not checked im pulling my hair out. tried turning distibutor advanced it back fires thru carb retard out the exhaust HELLLP!!!!!!!!
