Where's a great place to camp close to Asheville NC? (more detail below)?

We want to be in a big enough area for about 4 or 5 tents - probably at least 10 people. And we want to take our dogs and let them run and play, so no leash laws and no campers near by. Preferrably near water - a river or lake. Not too far out - hiking less than a mile in...any ideas??
 
Camp Kiowee it is a great big area that sits on a lake i took my dog when we went camping there! it is on the border of SC near NC
