Where would you draw the line with a Class A inspection?

Depending on the branch of service is how their rank is written. Army is "1SG"

And even though there's no regulation on where a class A inspection should be held, and in the presence of lower enlisted troops, it's not exactly the most professional. Platoon leader is an officer. If the commander wishes to grant the 1SG permission to inspect THEIR people, then so be it.

Should a 1SG inspect a Platoon Leader's uniform in front of the platoon leader's troops? This was an enlisted inspection for a Platoon picture.

Note: The Commander was not inspecting.

I served two tours as a 1SG and during those times I was directed by the CO to inspect the platoon leaders during formal inspections on many occasions.

BTW - another thing we did was get all the officers and senior NCOs in a room immedeatly before the inspection and carefully check each other's uniforms to ensure that we were all perfect.

yes, the platoons dicipline and actions, reflect apon the their leader. if the leader has crap dress, then so will the rest of the platoon. it is a customary thing to inspect them first. and by the way... its 1SGT
