My 17th is coming up and i am trying to decide to get a bike or car. I already have a 50cc (yes, bad, i know) and i am considering getting a 125cc but the only thing holding me back is storing everything once i have parked. I understand i can chain my helmet to the bike, but would i have to buy a box to store the jacket, and are the boxes that attach to the back of bikes metal, as i dont want anyone breaking the box open to steal the contents, and are bike boots essential ? and if so where would i store them also. If anyone knows of a 125cc sports bike that has a under seat space as well that would be useful to know off please =]

There will not be any 125cc motorcycles with this sort of storage, maybe a scooter will have a big enough place for gear. Because its so important to the ride, I carry mine. I know that's an issue if you are going to work or school, especially if you cannot park close, but I'd rather have my gear with me than thinking about someone taking it or damaging it while trying.

You can buy various weights of jackets, so wearing them for a short walk would be ok. I am an "all the gear all the time" person, so I ride almost every ride with boots and pants, as well as helmet, gloves and protective jacket. Some people use a good cable lock that is long enough to run through jacket sleeves, so its on the bike, but again I would not be doing this everywhere and every day.

The cargo boxes you can add to bikes may give enough storage (especially a top box, try "Givi" for one source) but I think what if someone takes the box or cracks it open, and they are not cheap (especially metal boxes). There are some aluminium ones made for hard touring, if you have seen "The long road down" series with Ewan McGregor the BMW bikes had these. You could search for "panier" and "aluminium", and will likely find a few sources.
