Where to send an idea for a movie?

I have got an idea and a concept for a movie and was wondering if there is anywhere you could send an idea for a movie to, I'm talking of a budget of about

I dont think your going to have any luck going trhough the official channels. Why not try sending it direct to a director, producer as you might fanmail. I did that once and i got a reply!!, otherwise look out for "offers" they do those for BBC and Ch4 in which you can propose ideas for shows. Theres got to be an equivalent for film. Check out BBC site, they have loaRAB of good links.

I now have coffee in my keyboard, and it's your fault.

Assuming you have a hefty slab of notes/script/screenplay down, pop it in a strong envelope/jiffy bag and mail it to yourself, and don't open it. Covers you for copyright without the patent people having to snigger at you iirc.

If you're serious, try to contact people through Channel 4, or send as mail to smaller directors (in name not height). If you thought last night, 'wouldn't it be cool if.....', don't bother.

Why don't you post it on here, we'll let you know what we think. :)

Seriously, have a look on the BBC pages, I think they do a screenwriting course, and they also did a competition a while ago for someone to write and cast a film, maybe they might be doing another one, or maybe you could contact the people who made that programme, see if they have any ideas.

OMG! I just read the part about the budget. :jawdrop:
Isn't that a little much? I doubt a big company will give that much money to a first time filmmaker.

I think you'll find you're still exaggerating your cost. All those films with sets that are nothing like earth, also needed sets built, and I don't remember many

You just missed your chance! There were pitch and "speed dating" sessions at Cannes this week.

But just remember, an idea cannot be copyrighted, only a script or "treatment".

Are you sure about your decimals on the budget?
