My friend got a speeding ticket yesterday. The police officer said that he would chalk it up to a faulty speedometer, and if my friend got it inspected before end of today, he wouldn't have to pay. Unfortunately, he can't find any inspection places that will check speedometers in the city. There was a taximeter place in the Bronx, which would have been perfect, but the number is out of service. He said he's gone to a few regular inspection places, and none of them check speedometers. He would rather keep it in the Bronx (or west Queens) although I'm sure he'd go to the city if there was a guaranteed inspector there. Does anyone know a place to get speedometers checked in NYC?
