Where to Buy Nokia E71-3 Thread!

danwrubel,

thanks for the info. I need to try and contact Nokia in different countries to see what their reply will be. If more people contact them/different sources please post their replies here. I really need to find the E71-3 and sell my E71-2 ...

no such thing as AWS on the e71.

The -3 simpl has europe/australia 3g bands (2100)
as well as HALF the north american 3g band (850)

therefore it would work perfectly on 3g in europe, and it would also work in NA but not as good as a phone that has both north american 3g bands.
Its been talked about a lot for a loong time on this forum..

but anyways since the -2 is out and the -3 is more expensive i guess ill just get a -2

:clapping:

The Nokia E71-3 is likely destined for Australia, whose largest network is Telstra's 850MHz HSDPA.

My E61 has been a faithful servant for the past 2 years, so I sent an email to Nokia Australia asked for a release date for the E71-3:

So we wait, we wait, we wait...

According to Nokia, the E71-3 was made for Asian markets. I spoke with Nokia support in the UK last week- that is what they told me. I also spoke/emailed with two different Australian mobile merchants who told me they don't have it, and as far as they know, won't have it.
FYI.
I want one as bad as anyone so if I find a source, I'll be sure to post it here.

We T-Mobile users held out hope for quite a while that the -3 model would be AWS. Alas, it's not to be. I'm sick of it and I just bought a -2 NAM model. The day it arrives I jump to AT&T and that's that. Should be Friday. 'Nufs enough. I'm out of here like Vladimir. Buh-bye, T-Mo. Have fun with the AWS rollout. Call me in a couple of years if and when you have it up and running, and anyone is paying enough attention to actually make a smartphone for AWS.

Just to add my thoughts. I am in Canada on Rogers. I have a WM 6.1 Pro phone with tri-band 3G, and it actually allows me to select the combination to use (in the same combination as the E71-1, -2 and -3). So for example, I can select "EU" for 900/1800 GSM and 2100 UMTS, "US" for 850/1900 and 850/1900 or "AUS" for 900/1800 and 850/2100.

The last option is cool because it allows me to simulate how the E71-3 would perform in Canadian 3G coverage (eg 850 only) without actually having an E71-3! I set it to AUS this morning and I have 3G reception (and confirmed it by browsing) in my home, which is a *very* good sign.

So my gut is that for Canadians, indeed, the E71-3 is the best choice if you are mainly in Canada and want UMTS when travelling to Europe. If you don't travel to Europe and travel to the USA, then you'd want the E71-2. It's too bad Nokia makes you choose.

I sent an email to a friend who is reasonably close the action of network development at Telstra - operator of the only 850MHz HSDPA network in the region. They are not intending to support the Nokia E71-3, or sell it. It is not being tested by Telstra.

So it's unlikely to be sold anywhere near Asia.

Our only hope seems to be the Americas?
