I just bought a 4 band eq (simple, but really all i want is more subwoofer adjustment) and i am lookin for a place to put it in my '97 grand cherokee. It does have one spot that intrigues me... There is a window about the size of head unit on the dash just in front of the shifter for package indicators (ie. towing packages, 4wheel, A/C). My jeep only has 4wheel, which is also indicated on the shifter, so to have this picture of a truck with its wheels lighting up when you shift into 4wheel is pretty much useless... I was thinkin about takin that out and making an fiberglass cover to cover the space between the EQ edges and dash. Bad idea? good idea? what about wireing? Will it be ok if i just cap those wires making the 4wheel indicator light up, or does the 4wheel system use that in the curciut to make it run?

I have also considered some other not so attractive places to put it... ie, alongside the centerconsole between it and the driver seat, in the glove compartment, under the dash hang-mounted...

Anyone have any cool ideas of where i could put it? anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks

You could do some "Muntzing", that is, snip out parts until the car doesn't work and then put the last thing back. That's not good. Auto electrical systems are tricky. Since you only need to set the equializer to it's best setup then leave it alone, past that it will be mostly decoration. Hang it where it isn't in the way but can't attract theft, and you can get at it if you need to. Leave the rest of the gauges alone.

If the sub or amp incorporates a crossover, the equalizer might not be compatible with it and one of them will have to go.
