Where is the ignition switch on 1987 Chevy Caprice?

I have no power in key switch on position. Since key switch is worn badly and loose I figure I would change it and ignition switch if someone will tell me where it is located. I have good battery and connections,headlights and horn works. Just no power when key is switched to on position. No radio, fan ,no gauges or turn signals and no power to starter solenoid(small wire). I am changing key switch but would like to know about relays or switches.

the key switch and ignition control are one in the same. sounds more like a power problem than ignition

If you will look at the steering column under the dash there is a bracket the holds that column to the dash. It has two studs with nuts holding it to the dash with four bolts holding the bracket to the column. The ignition switch is bolted to the top of the column above that bracket.
