My husband and I have never been there. We're looking to camp (tent) for one night on our way through the state on a road trip. We'll be there the day after Christmas, I think so we'll need a quick answer so we can reserve on short notice. We don't want a campground with too many amenities. We're not looking to camp next to a playground or a pool. If it has it's own fancy restaurant, We're probably not going to be interested. A shower and a toilet are really all we prefer. A view would be nice. A remote area with hiking and natural beauty would be perfect. We prefer to stay near Southern Mississippi but we wouldn't mind going out of our way for the right place. By the way, we don't fish, hunt or play golf and we don't have kids.

Thanks in advance!

There are some nice places around Jackson, pine and oak woods galore, and Biloxi, Down closer to the coast. There's also numerous
Civil War battalfields around the state.
