hey i justgot back from scottsdale and my main purpose was mountain biking! The pinnacle cyclery shop was very good. They have higher end bikes that you rent out. We were staying in Scottsdale so my boyfriend rented his bike at the pinnacle cyclery place (near the mcdowell mountains) and i personally rented out my bike in phoenix at the "bike barn" b/c they had the bike i wanted to rent (that i ride here). So if i was you, i would call up the rental shops ahead of time and reserve your bike. The weather is upper 80s and low 90's when we went in March and by the time noon hit, most bikers were done for the day. You have to get out there very early b/c the desert is very hot. If you need any advice, Sedona and Flagstaff were the best places to ride and thats where we would stay next time if we ever went back for biking. Its all red rock canyons and green pine trees. Absolutely beautiful. The terrain in phoenix and tuscon is very dry, sandy and rocky. Its not a very pretty landscape like sedonna or flagstaff. Both were sandy and rocky but sedonna was breath taking.
