I am sure God enjoys watching all of us to root for sports teams which is healthy for our souls such as being excited, celebrating big wins, etc... In biblical times, there was almost no sport available for us to enjoy.

I think war was kinda sport and there was lots of hunting.

Most sports evolved from honing the skills needed in life to survive. That's why running, jumping, even cross country and downhill skiing are all considered sports, while snow boarding is not a sport, only a hobby. When a snow boarder can do a Backside 720 while killing a bear, I will call it a sport.
