Where/How could I use my growing knowledge of Mandarin in the military?

So recently I've been debating the military again and I was wondering if there are positions in the military where I could utilize Mandarin language skills. I'm working on my second year of college level study now and I intend to keep it up. I love working internationally and Chinese culture is a particular interest of mine. My goal is to strive towards being as bilingual as possible despite that fact that especially with Mandarin this can be very difficult.

I'm curious if there are any officer level professions where I could utilize the knowledge I have in these areas. And if so, what branches offer it?

You could become a linguist or interpreter. Not many officer positions but there are some in all branches. You will be sent to DLI and not necessarily for Mandarin. If you can pass the DLPT you don't have to go to DLI, but that is very unlikely since students who have been at DLI a month would know more Mandarin then they teach the first year in college. One of the guys in my Russian class took 6 years college Russian and we were well past what he learned there by month 5.
