This is for our final investigative project in school. The following are the procedures for it.
Procedures:
Choosing the Bike
First, a suitable bicycle was chosen for the conversion. Since an alloy fork may not be able to handle the torque produced by a DC motor, it was installed on a bike with steel forks. The fork (or frame for rear mounts) was also large enough to accommodate the DC motor and axle.
Installing the DC motor
The new rim was taken and placed in between the forks to make sure it fitted correctly. To ensure that the wheel rotates in the right direction, the bolts were secured tightly. If power is applied and the axle is not secured tightly, the motor will try to turn inside the dropouts, permanently damaging the wires connecting the motor.
Installing the throttle
Next, the grips were removed from the handle bars. The brakes were replaced and the throttle was installed. After the installation of the brakes, the throttle was connected to it. Since a thumb throttle was used, it was secured it to the handlebars and then the handle grip was back on.
Install the battery
The battery was mounted on the rear rack behind the seat.
I need your help asap! Thanks
