I was just thinking about this question today and I thought about a pro for Mars which is a con for The Moon.
First I would like to say that The Moon is closer and would be closer to Earth if anything should happen. Now it takes 1-3 days to get to the moon (not 100% on that fact, I do know its not very long) but I know for certain a round trip to Mars can last from 4-12 months. On the other hand scientist have only found traces of water molecules on pebbles on the moon and scientist know Mars has a polar ice cap.
If we try and colonize the moon but cant find any water what will we do? I think a good guess would be to take some of Earths water. The water on Earth is all we have. This could be a problem if we start taking water away lowering our supply. Keep in min that theres already people dying everyday of thirst.
Now you can see why it may be a good idea to colonize Mars and not The Moon. What I would like to know is what you think. Where should we colonize and why do you think this?
