where do you have to go to get tested for ADD?

I have dyslexia and i had to go threw 2 days of hard core testing and then had to wait awhile for the results. but iv heard for ADD you just go to your doctor and he examines you and decides if you are or are not ADD-and gives you meds. is this true?
im 15 and in the 9th grade, if that helps? [:
