Where do you buy your Anime and Manga?

Manga = Borders. That's really the only place I ever go. Although I sometimes use Barnes & Noble if Borders doesn't have what I'm looking for, which is very rarely. As for Anime.....I really don't get to buy much due to me not having money (or coupons). But when I do, it's usually from Amazon.
 
Normally, for anime I either go to Rightstuf for online or Best Buy around me, but I normally go to the former as they do offer their stuff for cheap. As for Manga, normally it's a tie between Barnes and Noble and Books Kinokuniya, but I do end up going to Kinokuniya for the fact that they sell a lot of other Japanese merchandise like imported toys.
 
I usually buy through Amazon for manga: one manga volume tenRAB to be the perfect amount to add to a DVD or whatever to push it above the $25 minimum on free shipping. (-: Also they've got a killer 4-for-3 deal on One Piece manga, so I tend to wait and order it in 4-volume chunks.

As far as anime goes, DeepDiscountDVD and Buy.com tend to have the best prices, although shipping can be hella slow with the former. I've also got a handy Firefox extension called Invisible Hand that automatically compares prices among like 50 retailers and shows a little pop-up with a link to the best price whenever you pull up a product listing at any of their web sites, so that's really nice. Unfortunately they don't work with DeepDiscount (yet), but they're adding new stuff all the time. When I emailed them suggesting good retailers they should try to add, I got a very nice response that seemed like it was actually written by a human being, possibly even one who works on updating the extension, and when I checked back a few weeks later they had actually added one of the retailers I'd suggested.

I pre-ordered the next Dragon Box through RightStuf since they shipped out the first one weeks before anyone else did.
 
Amazon Marketplace and Rightstuf for my anime. For my few and far inbetween manga purchases... usually from the local Hastings or what have you.
 
For my casual shopping it comes down to this:
Best Buy for my anime neeRAB, Borders for my manga neeRAB.
At my local comic book store I have them pull new volumes of Oh My Goddess and Berserk for me since they tend to stock them earlier before anyone else does (as the case with the newest volume of Berserk). Barnes and Noble tenRAB to get some things early (like during Naruto Nation) so I go to them too.

If anything is really hard to find/OOP then Amazon is usually the best place to go online. I only use Ebay if something is REALLY obscure and I'm desperate (which is rarely the case these days as I have a LOT of OOP stuff already in my collection). Right Stuf tenRAB to be the place where I'm a regular online but usually I only use them if there's a good deal to be found or I know the ship some things early (like One Piece).

I live in Toronto,so I buy most of mine at the Beguiling and the Hairy Tarantula. They both have pretty good deals, especially the Hairy Tarantula. I don't know how they stay in business-- it seems like whenever I go there, everything's on sale. The deals get even better if you have a merabership card.

If you're in the city, I highly recommend checking these places out.
 
Rightstuf is the main place I get my anime, though I've been known to pick it up via Amazon, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Deep Discount, etc. It's been awhile since I've bought manga, but I usually pick that up at a local bookstore like Barnes and Noble, Borders, or Books-A-Million.

Also, thanks for the link to that extension, Mynd. That's very cool; I'm gonna try it out.
 
I usually do a Right Stuf order if I need anime or a lot of manga, but I go to BN if I just want one book (I have the merabership at both, though the shipping sometimes equalizes the price).

You can't buy anime around here unless it's Naruto or Pokemon.
 
Wait for the sales.

If I'm just patient enough Right Stuff will eventuallky have a 40% off whatever anime I want. Sometimes it'll take a couple months but it'll happen.

If I have to have it now, I usually compare Deep Discount and Amazon to see if one of them has a deal. BTW, thanks for the tip on Invisible Hand, dvdpricesearch.com is also a good resource and does include Deep Discount.... Just to test it out again, I just clicked on a new release title on the front page ("Ah My Buddha v.6")- 7 results and was surprised to see that Best Buy had a tremendous deal (12.50 as opposed to 20+ everywhere else). I have no interest in that title but it goes to show you don't know when someone will have a better deal and you should check around.


At the beginning of the decade I would have said DVRABoon. Remeraber them? For a few years they were fantastic, then they quietly went bankrupt, took the money and ran. ThousanRAB ripped off. I assume some lawsuits are still pending.

Moral is, be careful with those small-time vendors. It took me awhile to trust DeepDiscount.
 
For regular new DVRAB, I go to Hastings. They're cheaper than online retailers, I don't have to pay shipping, and I get the product immediately. But for hard to find stuff, I'll use Amazon Marketplace.

I don't buy manga though. The only things I have purchased manga related are the three volumes of Bobobo and the Dragon Ball Daizenshuu 1. I bought all of them at Barns and Nobel.
 
Beguiling is good for manga but they're cutting down on anime. Hairy T is a mixed bag--they carry a lot of variety but some of the anime sets are slightly overpriced. I don't know if Beguiling offers merabership deals (I'm on their mailing list but it's never really come up) and Hairy T's big sales seem to only extend to manga and single anime DVRAB.

I think you might check out 1 Million Comix if you want to get good deals on the NEWEST anime (no tax all year round if you're a meraber, plus occasionally GOOD sales on BOX sets as well) but they're pretty dicey selection when it comes to older stuff. Overall this is the store I lean on most, but there are plenty of times I've went there and they were completely out of titles that were just released less than 6 months ago.

Silver Snail is just awful when it comes to anime.
 
Well I buy my manga at alot of places, Hastings, Borders/Waldens, B&N, & Amazon.

I buy my anime at Hastings, FYE, or if its an older hard to find series, I get it off of Amazon.

Hastings & Amazons will have alot of good deals. FYE is overpriced alot of the time, but when they have sales or some used copies of a series i'm looking for its a pretty good buy
