Where do the pictures go when one emails them from Yahoo to a cell phone?

I have a Samsung Fascinate and I email some pics from my computer to my phone and now, I cannot find them. I wanted to use the pics for contact images. I know they are on my phone, but do not know where. ALSO, please advise how I might get the pictures when they are located to my present shadowy images of my contacts.

IF you are knowledgable....you need to be my friend, I have lots more questions and hate to call Verizon again.
