Where do i hook up the remote wire for my car audio?

It'll typically get wired onto a blue with white stripe wire coming off of the deck. If that wire isn't present you're next option is going to be anything that runs as an accessory. So, if your cigarette lighter isn't constantly on then that will be fine. Otherwise, the next best option is typically at the ignition harness.
 
I know where it goes on the AMP, however i don't know where to hook it up on the other end.
My head unit DOES have a dark blue wire (assumed to be rem.) but when i hook it up to that... i get nothing.

I did plug it into the red wire on the back of the cigarette lighter, but the cant be the proper way, and this drains my battery.

So where do Car Audio shops usually hook this wire up?
