Divorce lawyers get paid by the hour for their services, so it's in the lawyer's best interests to drag a divorce out as long as is humanly possible. Lot of divorce lawyers get dollar signs in their eyes when they see the couple can't agree on anything. So what the divorce will cost them is really up to your parents!

I am concerned about your involvement in the divorce process. This will cause you a lot of emotional and mental distress. They are adults- let them handle it. Don't get involved because then they will each think you are taking the others side. You need to be as mutual as possible and the best way to do that is to not know about the details. Just be a supportive child in any decision they make, don't accept negative talk from either one of them about the other. Do not give your opinion in any matter unless it has to do with your personal belongings.
