Unknown. The transmission in my son's Miata self destructed last year -- would only move in reverse no matter what gear you selected. We replaced it with a used unit that had 40,000 fewer miles and cost $425.00. MUCH cheaper than repairing the old one. I spoke with a transmission specialist and he said that the MX5 transmission was a good, sturdy unit but was very complex and difficult to disassemble and repair.
