I don't fully intend to read and write Japanese yet, so any written style of Japanese, be it katakana or kanji or romaji or whatever will do for a visual guide. I basically intend to be able to watch my anime raw and maybe do some English subtitles. I don't intend to go to Japan yet (though i'll consider it if palin wins in 2012.) The easier the learning, the better.
