I can't seem to find a new oil pan for my 1999 Chrysler Concorde LXI anywhere. Used ones are also hard to find. No one will touch my car for an oil change because the oil plug is dripping and/or stuck (for whatever reason, cross-threaded was the suspected trouble- among a few others- by the mechanic) and told me they could give more torque, but might damage the oil pan. Then they suggested I could get the plug tapped out and replace it with an over-sized plug, but also mentioned some car lube shops still might not touch it due to liability issues.
Do I need to go to a Chrysler dealership and pay like $500 for a $100-ish part? Or should I risk the new over-sized plug theory, possibly being black-balled from future oil changes (until I replace the pan anyway)? If I need to replace the oil pan, I would prefer a new one so I don't get a used one that has the over-sized plug anyway.
Any help?
