My 18 month old Chihuahua has grade 3 luxating patella and will need surgery to repair both of his knees. The vet doesn't recommend doing them at the same time so essentially, he needs two surgeries, about 8 weeks apart. I was looking into organizations that offer financial help to those who are stuck in a rut (such as myself) and they help Americans, but I'm Canadian and I don't know where I might be able to get some of the money to help cover the costs. It's $1200 per surgery! Do you know of any Canadian organization that could help me?
He's not limping or doesn't seem to be in any pain, so the vet said it could wait a couple of months. The vet doesn't offer payment plans. Thanks in advance for any answer!!!
BEFORE you make assumptions that I'm an irresponsible person and that I shouldn't be a dog owner, please consider the following. I have always been a successful business person. I worked for years for a major telecom business in management and then I quit to start a business of my own. My business was doing great until just a few months ago where I had to close it indefinately due to the poor economy. I had struggled to keep the doors open as long as I could but then there was the day that I just couldn't anymore and it was costing me my own money and health to keep the business going. Furthermore, myself, my husband and my children donate countless hours volunteering for numerous organizations such as homeless shelters, animal shelters and sponsoring children overseas. I've also donated about $10,000 to charities in the past 5 years. DO NOT CALL ME AN IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNER!!! For once, I'm the one who's looking for a hand with something and I'm not looking for people to criticize.
Dana1985- for a 15 year old, as indicated on your profile, it must have been really hard for you to be laid off for a year and worry about your mortgage payments. Geez, most 15 year olds would move back in with mom and dad and go back to playing D&D in the basement. I have blocked you because I'm looking for help from nice people, not for criticism. I'm going to keep this question up for a bit, see if anyone answers it without criticizing me for not having much of savings. I'm sorry that I'm asking for a bit of help...for the first time in my life! I am ashamed for asking for help and I am normally the one that people turn to. People can make all the assumptions they want about me. I'm just very strapped right now, I don't know what to do and I've sold off anything of value to me so that I can put food on the table for my family. I hope that when you're in your 30's, something bad happens to you and you have to turn to others for help and you're called names and rejected. You're mean.
