Where are these "American People" that WANT corporations to not pay taxes?!?

This is an excellent point.

It's interesting to make the distinction that the tax burden was shared by the middle class. Some 60% of this country. They also enjoyed the benefits of the american lifestyle.

Now the middle class is shrinking, and carrying a dis-appropriate amount of tax burden. And the wealthy is enjoying the american lifestyle, and the middle class struggles to stay in the middle.

For the first time in American History, THIS generation will do worse than the one before it.

Because like I said earlier, if oil companies can't turn a profit, they will shut down. If production and distribution costs plus taxes turn out to be more than what they're allowed to sell at, then they go out of business.

Also, because the government has no business whatsoever setting retail prices.

OK, here's a pretty simple case where regulation was good:

Glass-Steagall

Gramm-Leach-Bliley was some of your much praised deregulation, and look where THAT got us.

spent over 4 months there. there's much to like about it. unfortunately, sockseller is right in that the things I currently hate about america are 100x worse there.

It's still a more vibrant culture and exciting place to live, so I'd move for those reasons alone (temporarily).

That'd be nice

I get what you're trying to say though

Hey, I just had a thought, why not get the feminists in on this... the education system is patriarchal!!!11

He thought he had a free pass, blaming everything on MY PREDECESSOR. It's ok to spend like a drunken sailor, because it's all Bush's fault.

you obviously haven't traveled enough to understand why living in another country would be better.

brazil is culturally rich and has soul, and the beaches in brazil don't compare to anything here, period.

Please stop arguing on this, it's completely derailing the thread anyway.

put a cap on fuel prices? So the only strong sector of the economy goes tits up? seriously?

I'm not the one who just tried to create a semantic argument, nor am I the one who was wrong in the attempted semantic argument.

For the record, you absolutely contradicted yourself in the education debate.

in a sense, this is one and the same.
it cost more for GM to make a cavalier, but they knew if they passed that on, no one is buying a 23k cavalier.

Because an individual, especially one who wielRAB control of large sums of assets, can manage to shift wealth/assets elsewhere in such a simple system, specifically assets/wealth he doesn't immediately need.

Something like this would be eaten alive by half-awake attorneys and CPAs everywhere.

Who do we blame here though... the idiot republicans or the hedge fund managers themselves
