Where are these "American People" that WANT corporations to not pay taxes?!?
I'm not an economist either. But this is something you don't need to be an economist to understand. I'll put it in simpler terms:
Let's say I own a chain of lemonade stanRAB, and I make a lot of money selling my lemonade at 25 cents per cup.
The government is angry that I'm earning too much money and not paying enough taxes, even though I pay what's required of me, and I should have to pay more because I "benefit from society". So to make sure they squeeze every possible drop of blood out of BIG LEMONADE, they pass a lemon tax, a water tax, a paper cup tax, and a lemonade stand tax.
Now my cost of production has increased from about 5 cents per cup to $1.50 per cup.
Am I going to continue selling my lemonade for 25 cents, and lament my just desserts as I pay the extra $1.45 per cup in taxes? Or am I going to increase my prices, and pass the extra cost on to my thirsty customers?
The bottom line is, I'm still going to earn the same amount of money or more. I'm not going to leave prices where they are and just eat the extra tax. YOU, my customer, are going to pay those taxes for me, out of your money that has ALREADY been taxed.
That's why heaping taxes on corporations to punish them for making a profit is stupid.
