Where Are My Custom Ringtones for My iPhone?

I custom made some ringtones using iTunes (I have a PC if that matters) and I did everything right. the songs popped up in my ringtones section of my iTunes library, but when I sinked the phone it didn't show up in my phone afterwards. am I doing something wrong? where are they?
