whenever i click on a online friend on the Facebook chat list, the chat window...

...opens, but......? after like 1 second of the window being open, it says that So and So is now offline. No, its not that they ALWAYS sign off one second after i open the box....i dont think its my settings..but maybe? any ideas how to fix it?
