Whenever I bake like a cake - it turns too soft but it is cooked. What am I doing wrong?

Is the ratio between wet and dry not right? Too much wet and not enough dry?
Not enough baking powder? Not cooked long enough.Not enough eggs.
It has the consistency of a brownie.
Help!

follow the recipe...if it is a good recipe then it will be good...that simple.
