When you're on Facebook and you're not online on chat, do you show up as Idle or...?

When you're on Facebook and you're not online on chat, do you show up as Idle or do you not show up at all?

I mean, if I'm on Facebook but not chatting, my chat is closed, the people that are online, do they know that I'm on the website?
