When you use Rubbing Compound, then Polishing Compound, isn't the clear coat

removed? Do you have to repaint a? Just started to read about making your paint shine again in an old car.

For a car with clear coat, I read you wash, then rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then wax.

But I didn't read any info about needing to reapply a clear coat unless you are doing repainting the base coat.

With polishing compound, didn't you just removed the old clear coat? Don't you need to repaint with a clear coat? I haven't read any detailing that says to reapply a clear coat?

Thanks for any info.
