When you think of art what do you think of?

My art teacher sees art as a series of steps that combine to make a picture. I don't know but to me that's like saying a human is made up of nothing but bones and muscle. What do you guys think of when you hear the word art? I just want to know.

Expressing yourself and showing who you are by your style of art

I had a design professor that was like that and it made the course discouraging.I had the pleasure of having art major in high school by two very passionate and knowledgeable teachers.To have something such as art boiled down to a systematic process with an end result would churn out poor art works.

Art, like music, is a vocation.This is why there are people who naturally excel at it and people who have no aptitude regardless of how much time is invested.

Art to me is my refuge.I have an overactive imagination to begin with,but I love pencils,india ink,pigment pens ,brushes and watercolor.

A friend of mine said that he longed for a job where we could work a long day and wondered where the hours had gone,because he was doing what he loved.

That's why I'm going for my art degree

A picture/painting. Also, I think of art sometimes when I see a sizeable piece of scrap or something of the sort.
