When you start Karate/Martial Arts as an Adult (19), Do they still give trophies out at

You have different kind of trophies, first type is basically attendance trophy for everyone who showed up, this is just to tell everyone you arent a loser eventhough you actually lost.

and then there are trophies for wining competitions, given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

To win this trophy you have to beat competition, which means your have to practice very hard and very well, and it takes as long as it takes for you to become better than others.

I doubt they give loser trophies to adults, because adults should understand that they lost, should practice more and loser trophies are worthless actually.

Usually they are given to kiddies who get their feelings hurt and cry on their mommies skirts for not getting something shiny.

You normally get a trophy or award after winning in competitions. It is normally for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Some tournaments have awards 4th place and or lower.

Its the same in almost every sport. There are age brackets and weight brackets. For instance a tournament may have Age 5 to 10 with several age brackets. So a 5 year old 40 lb kid doesnt fight a 10 year old 100 lb kid. Adults are the same. The trophies, medals and certificates are the same also. The only difference is if there is a child tournament or an adult tournament. If there was no trophy/medal there would be nothing to show you won, therefore not many people would attend. Think of the olympics... Best in the world compete, and they get the best medal for winning. And as far as how long, that depends on you as an athlete. Many times, someone who wins in martial arts, is a "natural". I won State Championship my first year. Good luck
