you still part of the military? My question is basically, say i join the marines and serve for 4-6 years,
i don't want to be part of the military forever, just want to serve my country, help our country win some oil :) and then quit, have some money, some leadership skills, and be able to have nothing to do with the military ever again. Is this possible?

absolutely, but your contract will be 8 years whether or not your enlistment time is 4-6. the other 2-4 will be individual ready reserve. but anyway, yes you can do that. you'll be considered a veteran, but that's nothing negative. its not like they can call you back after your contract is up and you get discharged. once you're out you're out, unless you get stop lossed. but that applies to deployments. so yes, you can enlist and then get out. not a problem..
