Well. The first time I went to the dr. I already knew I was pregnant, but they had done a urine test anyways to make sure. I then saw a dietician who told me what I should and shouldn't eat etc. during my pregnancy, and I also saw a social worker that asked questions about me home, my life, and the father of my child etc. They then have me a prescription for my prenatal and took my weight, height, pulse and blood pressure and told me at my next appt. I would see a doctor.
I do not know if all doctor offices do it that way, mine may have just b/c it was through one of the hospitals here and not just a regular doctors office.
But at my 2nd visit they did a pap smear, and tried to hear for the baby's heart beat. They could not pick up his heart beat, but the doctor said they usually can't until a little later in pregnancy, but they try anyways. They also felt my uterus to see how it was developing and set me up with an ultrasound appt. to see how far along I was for sure. After the visit I was sent down to the lab for blood work to test my iron, and fir HPV, Aids, and a few other STD tests by blood. They do not do the test b/c they assume you have an std's they do it to be sure.
