When you factory order a car, when do you start making payments?

I'm interested in factory ordering a 2010 Shelby mustang. do i have to wait until i actually take delivery (12-16 weeks) to give a down payment and begin making payments, or will they expect me to start making payments and give them the down payment the day i order it?
 
Until it is in your possesion and registered then and only then will you start making payments. The payments usually start after you have had the vehicle for several weeks.
 
If you are special ordering a car they will more than likely require the down payment up front as a deposit to secure the car.

Your first payment won't be due until the month after you take delivery.
