i might go fishing in 2 weeks

but i might not

i don't plan on killing the fish i catch, but just simply catch them

Yes, it does hurt them. They do feel pain. That hook is piercing the skin of a fish's mouth and then the fish is being dragged by that hole in its mouth. Imagine if your lip was punctured by a hook and you were dragged by it. It would hurt you, right?

If you toss the fish back it will heal up eventually and the fish will go on with life like nothing happened. Unless you do some MAJOR mutilation to its mouth or gills.

I'm not against fishing, I'm just stating what happens. Go ahead, go fish, it's kind of fun if you can get over the whole hurting fish thing.
