when you burn calories at the gym, do those calories leave your system straight away?

say you burn 1000 calories in a work out. 1000 calories is nearly 1/3 of a lb. Therefore have those calories gone straight away or do they disapear from your system over the hours or even days after the workout? So for example, if you were to burn 3500 calories in a day (about 1lb of body fat), would you be 1lb lighter the same day, or would it take a few days to actually see the difference on the scales??
