When working at a fine restaurant as a waitor...?

since everyone shares one register.. How do they know who took the missing money? I know everyone has their own card to slide through the register and log in. But how do they know exactly what time the money went missing?

I work as a waitress but we never get to touch the money. Boss lady does.
No money is missing since she counts it as soon as I put it in her hands. But I was wondering what happens at other restaurants.
 
That is a good question. Sounds like the Boss lady might have some questions to answer. Do you give her the money to put in the register? Is there a receipt with the money you turn over to her? I'm not sure how this works in your restaurant. How much is missing?
