When will you accept that your holy book is innacurate and not scientific?

Often I see people disregarding all the inaccurate garbage in their holy books to find rare passages about stuff like fingertips and immediately declare they meant fingerprints or stuff like the sky being a protective roof (which is referring to the early geocentric dome-covered model) and saying it means the atmosphere.

When will you stop construing your book's nonsense passages to scientific ideas?
This question is directed at those who do.
