When will Android 3.0 get released?

When will it get released? I have read everywhere that Google is focusing the most on the UI and im eager as hell to see it.

I've been hearing this rumor alot, and if its true all droid fans would love to see it! lol but question, why would they bypass 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 and/or etc.?

Sincerely,
The Android kid

they bypassed 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 also. they don't HAVE to make more. i'm guessing the first number, for instance 2 in 2.0, means version 2, and 2.1 is an update to 2.0. since the UI is supposed to be hella different, it will be like a whole new OS(asthetically), so the'll call it 3.0.

From what I am hearing it may be around CES timeframe. The OS may be ready sooner but because of the huge holiday push of android devices running 2.2 the carriers and OEM's don't want to run the risk of releasing devices that may or may not support 3.0 thus stalling the consumer buying cycle.

So I would expect something at or soon after CES.

yeah, if we get lucky, we might see a 3.0 device around november-ish. but if that happens, we'll see a 3.1 update shortly after. kinda like what happened last year with the droid--to get a cool new phone out for the holidays, google pushed out the droid with 2.0, and once the holiday craze subsided, the n1 came out with 2.1. same kinda goes back with the g1 two years ago because an android worker even said android 1.0 felt more like a 0.8, and that it was really just getting pushed out to get the sales in for the holidays.

I am going to guess we won't see a 3.0 release this year; everyone is still trying to push out and stabilize the 2.2 releases- and some companies are still releasing new 2.1 phones! If they announce a 3.0 device now, it will stall sales of all the current handsets while people wait to see if their phone will be able to receive a 3.0 update (or if new hardware is needed).

CES is in January and it is likely they will announce 3.0 there and then you will see a flagship 3.0 device appear a few months later- followed another few months to give the initial 3.0 device a little exclusivity- then we will see if any of the current handsets (which will be over a year old at this time) will see an official 3.0 update.

Doubt they would do that. Gingerbread is supposed to be vastly different so 3.0 is appropriate.

Even Apple doesnt go much past 2.2, 3.2, etc. And they put out a lot of updates.
